To battle the ravages of brush fires, the Purcellville Volunteer Fire Department runs this Ford heavy duty F-350 4x4 brush truck known as Brush2. This unit is equipped with a 500gpm pump with 300 gallons of water and a 9,000lb front mounted winch. Brush2 carries various field/brush fire tools likes rakes and chainsaws, water supply equipment, field fire gear and foam for just about any situation that comes up.
Besides the usual uses of any brush type fire truck, this unit with its large 500gpm pump can also be handy in water supply operations. The west end of Loudoun County is known for its narrow and rough roads that at times can keep a regular fire truck from accessing a near by water source. The brush with its small size can gain access and quickly obtain a water source to support on going fire operations.
